We ate, We shopped, Now let’s GIVE

Now that the craziness of Thanksgiving/Black Friday/Cyber Monday is over, let’s reflect and give back to those less fortunate than us. What better way to do that than with Blessing Bags! Contributions can be as low as $10, as high as $54, or anywhere in between ❤️

I have ten young mamas who could use the extra love and support during this season of giving. If I get more than ten sponsors, the remaining bags will be donated to a local shelter for other women who could use some light in their lives. I sincerely appreciate all the support in this year’s blessing bag drive!

😍 The cost to sponsor a bag is between $10 and $54 as you will choose which toxin free product/item you’d like me to put in your bag. Then, I will buy the other items going in the bags such as: tumblers, fuzzy socks, tissues, chocolates, notebook, pens, planners, puzzle books, etc.

Last year I was able to donate five bags. I’d love to DOUBLE it this year and donate at least TEN bags so I can give to a young mom’s group with ten mamas in it.

The Horrors of Trick or Treating

Halloween has always been my favorite holiday. I have so many memories of Halloween nights, walking the neighborhood with my parents and sister then with my friends as I got older. Dressing as Mother Goose, an angel, a baby, and so many more. Then, of course the thrill of going through my candy after hours of hard work. My sister and I actually used to sit on the floor, dump out our treasure, and sort it by category 😂 (strange little kids I know). It was always one of my favorite days of the year.

Now that I have a child of my own, inevitably, I’m starting to think about taking her trick or treating. But, as a toxin free family, how do we go about navigating this holiday, keeping it fun for her, and keeping toxins like red 40 out of her little body? Let me tell you a little bit about red 40…

Red 40

What is it?

Red 40 is a certified color that comes from petroleum distillates or coal tars. The FDA mandates that it has to be listed by name on food and product labels. let’s look at the facts about this ingredient:

-Red 40 and other AFCs (Artificial Food Coloring) can cause allergic reactions.

-AFCs can cause hyperactivity in children and immune system tumors in mice.

-Red 40 contains p-Cresidine, which is likely a human carcinogen.

-One study found that Red 40 lowers reproductive success in rats.

-Red 40 reduced parental and offspring weight, decreased brain weight, and lowered chances for survival in newborn rats.

-The colorant showed evidence of physical and behavioral toxicity in developing rats that consumed Red 40 as 10% of their diet.

Products containing Red 40

FDA regulations say that Red 40 must be listed on labels as “FD&C Red No. 40” or “Red 40.” However, manufacturers don’t have to specify how much is in their product. In the EU, warning labels are required on most dyed foods, which has caused a major downturn in their use. Foods that aren’t red or orange could still include Red 40. It is going to be incredibly prevalent in your child’s trick or treating bag.

Is It Your Moment?

We are wrapping up an amazing MyMoment promotion today at midnight and I’ve been pouring my heart out over in my clean living community on Facebook this past week. One thing I did was answer some questions that I get frequently about my job and I’d like to share one with all of you…

“How has being a green beauty advocate impacted your life?”
I could go on and on about all the ways that this business has blessed my life.
I am so thankful to work alongside all the inspiring women I do everyday. I am so inspired by the flexibility that I have to work in my sweats, when I want, and knowing that what I put into my business is what I will get out of it. I am so jazzed that there is no ceiling on what I can earn as an advocate with this phenomenal company. Most corporate jobs you can only work up so high. But no matter when you enroll to be a green beauty advocate, you have the ability to work your way to the top.

I had been with another company for four years when I decided to close that door and open the door to this toxin free life. I received a higher paycheck in October of 2018 (FOUR months after starting this journey) than I had in my FOUR years with my previous company..

It’s all because of the difference in the compensation plans and how unbelievably different ours is from any other company I’ve seen. It’s truly inspiring and genuinely life changing.

Nanoparticles

🌷 Today over in my Clean Living Community, https://www.facebook.com/groups/raisingclean/, it was Thirsty for Knowledge Thursday 🌷

I work alongside some of the most knowledgeable women I have EVER known and they are kind enough to share their wisdom! ❤️I love that we are all teaching each other! I also love that my company has a blacklist of ingredients we will NEVER use to ensure our products are 100% toxin free and safe. I recently learned about nanos from one of these brilliant women.

This is HUGE! Well, actually it’s very small. Like, nanoparticle small–but the impact is huge. The size of a nanoparticle can be difficult to grasp, so to make an analogy: if a nanoparticle were the size of an orange, an orange would be as big as the earth!! Before I was introduced to this toxin free lifestyle, I was unaware of nanotechnology and its application in cosmetics. After learning from others, I found some scary stuff!! Nanotechnology allows for cosmetics to be constructed nanoparticle by nanoparticle in a very controlled way preventing makeup from running and allowing lipstick to stay on the lips for days. Sounds cool, right?! Wrong. Unfortunately, nanotechnology has essentially taken over the manufacturing of cosmetics in many companies in the industry, but thankfully many studies on the potential risks caused to both human life and the environment have been underway. One of the many scary things about nanoparticles is that the materials are small enough to penetrate the skin or get inside the body through inhalation. Just to list a few common nanoparticles they are: titanium dioxide, zinc, silver, and fullerene. When these nanoparticles are absorbed into the bloodstream and carried around the body it can cause DNA and cell function damage, brain damage, liver damage, and affects on the immune system. On top of all of that, titanium dioxide specifically has shown MAJOR potential repercussions in offspring.

I am SO thankful to have found a beauty and skincare company that will NEVER put these in their products! Ladies, we don’t have to jeopardize our health for our beauty or our beauty for our health!

Hi! I’m Jessie Rae…

Hello everyone! 🤗 I am SO excited that you’re here and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to share more about the green beauty movement and what I’m learning with you!! 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽

My name is Jessica DeRico and I am a new mom of a little girl who is six months old. I have been aware of toxins and moving towards being toxin free for a while with things like hair products, bug spray, and sunblock. But the majority of the products in my life were toxic and I never really took the time to learn about the dangers hiding in these items. I honestly think I was living in blissful ignorance. My journey to live a more toxin free life really took off while we were pregnant for our little girl, Adeline Rae. I started to scrutinize everything going in, on, and around my body. I found some terrifying things in my makeup and other products and started looking into cleaner ones. Since then, we’ve been taking baby steps everyday to raise her toxin free, which is where we came up with the name, Raising Clean.

I invite you to join me as I embark to share my new passion about green beauty, fitness, clean eating, safe products for our families, and all things clean living! If there’s anything in particular you’re interested in learning more about, drop me a comment.

Thanks friends!
